In another break with convention, Nissan GT-R’s Premium Midship Platform places the engine farther back in the chassis for better handling. This unique layout also mounts the transmission with the transfer case in the rear of the Nissan GT-R, creating the world’s first independent rear transaxle for an All-Wheel Drive vehicle.
Nissan challenged convention at every point of the Nissan GT-R’s development. Instead of a large, heavy engine thirsty for fuel, the Nissan GT-R is powered by an ideally sized, twin-turbocharged 3.8-L V6 that produces a prodigious 565 hp and equally immense 467 lb-ft of torque. Just as important as the engineering is the actual assembly, which is done by hand by a single master craftsman, whose signature you’ll find on a small but prominent plaque.
The Nissan GT-R’s 6-speed dual-clutch transmission shifts incredibly quickly. How? Inside the transmission, there are separate clutches for the odd (1st, 3rd, 5th) and even (2nd, 4th, 6th) gears. When the car is in an odd-numbered gear, the adjacent even numbered gear is “pre-selected” – ready to make the shift immediately. The transmission is so smart, it even “blips” the throttle on downshifts to match rpm.
An available titanium exhaust helps ensure proper cooling from the engine’s massive output. Notoriously difficult to work with, each exhaust is hand-built by a master craftsman, and is specifically designed for an individual vehicle.
Rather than being designed to the demands of aerodynamics, the GT-R sculpts the air to its needs – becoming a force of nature, as much as a force to be reckoned with.
Forged aluminum 20" wheels feature a machined finish, which provides a high-quality, high-performance.
Large grille openings allow cooling air to key components. Thr front fascia shape helps direct air around the front wheel wells, reducing drag.
Navigate any city like a local with an 8.0" color multi-touch screen, with 3D map view for select cities, voice recognition, and easy-to-read graphics.
In addition to its touch functionality, you can control the 8" touch-screen using the Display Commander. Positioned just behind the gearshift, it lets you toggle up and down, side-to-side, rotate, scroll through, and control your infotainment system, all without the need to look down or touch the display screen.
Designed exclusively for the GT-R, the available 11-speaker Bose® audio system’s dual subwoofers sit between the rear seats, employing the trunk as a giant bass enclosure.
The RearView Monitor helps you see what’s directly behind you. Sonar Sensors on all four corners look out for static objects. When you’re getting close to a detected object, it will let you know with an audible warning.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility encompasses the Nissan Safety Shield philosophy, a comprehensive approach to safety that guides the engineering and development of every vehicle we make. We help protect you and your passengers by focusing on three key areas: keeping an eye on your vehicle’s systems, assisting in handling unexpected situations, and helping to keep you safe in the unfortunate event of an accident.
This advanced body construction combines impact-absorbing structures with a high-strength cabin, which helps provide protection for you and your passengers.
Nissan Advanced Air Bag System includes dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor. The inflation rate of these dual-stage air bags adjusts depending on crash severity and seat belt usage.
When it comes to tire pressure, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) takes away the guesswork.Using an icon on your dash, the system notifies you when tires aren't properly inflated.
