The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine is supercharged—meaning that there’s 250 hp generated by Pathfinder’s Hybrid system. The 15 kW power-regenerating electric motor is powered by lithium-ion cells, and the Intelligent Dual Clutch System efficiently manages power from both the electric motor and the engine. To save power, the gas engine only kicks in when it needs to, and switches to the electric motor to conserve fuel when you start-up, coast, or stop.
What kind of transmission do you put in the Next Gen SUV? The next-generation XTRONIC Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT®), obviously. Pathfinder’s new CVT® eliminates gears by using a precisely machined metal drive chain instead of traditional fixed metal gears, which transfers power from the engine to the wheels far more effectively and smoothly. So whatever you ask from the engine, the CVT® provides it by shifting seamlessly to give you the perfect speed, all while improving fuel economy.
No other SUV in this class gives you selectable 2WD, 4WD, and Auto Modes. Turn the All-Mode Dial, located just behind the gearshift, to lock into 4WD on rough terrain and in varying weather. Turn it again to switch into 2WD for better mileage. The intuitive Auto Mode senses slippery roads or rough terrain and automatically adjusts power to each wheel. When things smooth out, it switches back to 2WD.
Pathfinder Hybrid’s roof rails will catch your eye as you watch the rack flow along the contours of the body. This provides a sleek and stylish look while maintaining its sporty function.
The 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid's headlights read and react to light conditions outside, automatically turning your lights on and off when needed. The lights also react automatically to your windshield wipers, turning on after four swipes.
The 18'' wheels are made out of aluminum-alloy, making them both lightweight and strong.
The Hybrid’s Advanced Drive-Assist™ Display lets you monitor the power flow of the electric motor and the gas engine. You can also track MPG history and even learn how to be a more efficient driver. For the big-screen experience, you can view Hybrid information on the available Nissan Navigation System’s 8” VGA display.
Drive in personalized comfort with an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat.
With the RearView Monitor, when you back-up a discreet color camera mounted on the rear of the vehicle helps you see what’s directly behind you.
Connect with your ride. The Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System answers your compatible cell phone even if it’s buried in a bag or the trunk. Just press a button on the steering wheel to pick up calls or dial friends.
The Nissan Intelligent Key® lets you tap a button on the door handle or hatch to unlock them, while your keys stay in your pocket.
Load your iPod® and listen on the go. The Interface System for iPod® lets you control it through Pathfinder’s audio system.
Nissan Advanced Air Bag System includes dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors and an occupant-classification sensor. The inflation rate of these dual-stage air bags adjusts depending on crash severity and seat belt usage. Built into the front seats, two supplemental air bags offer side impact protection and move with you as you adjust your seating position. Plus, roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags help provide head protection for all three rows of outboard occupants.
To help enhance grip when accelerating, the Traction Control System senses wheelspin and automatically reduces engine output and/or brakes the spinning wheel to help give you a surer foothold. Acting in tandem with the Traction Control System, Vehicle Dynamic Control compares actual vehicle cornering performance to the driver’s input, adjusting power levels and applying appropriate brake pressure to individual wheels to help correct oversteer or understeer, helping keep the vehicle on the steered path.
LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) provides an added measure of safety for the smaller members of your family. LATCH includes lower anchors and tethers on the outboard second-row seats and a tether anchor on the middle seat of the second and third rows.
A Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) comes standard on every Highlander. Designed to monitor tire pressure at all times, it alerts the driver when a tire or tires become critically underinflated and is one more way Highlander helps keep you safe.
